Located just 25 minutes north of Perth, Mullaloo Beach is known for its white sand, turquoise water and long coastal views. It’s a family-friendly beach with excellent facilities, making it ideal for casual visitors and photographers alike. Sunsets here are especially vibrant over the Indian Ocean.
Drone use is permitted at Mullaloo Beach, but check CASA airspace regulations and avoid flying near swimmers or during peak hours. Low-altitude flights at sunset provide great motion shots over waves and beach curves. Early morning offers calm wind conditions for more stable footage.
Use a wide-angle lens (16–35mm) to capture the full width of the shoreline and sky. A telephoto lens can isolate silhouettes at sunset. A tripod and ND filter are useful for long exposures to smooth the water. Polarising filters help eliminate glare on bright afternoons.
Best at sunset year-round, but especially beautiful during summer evenings (Dec–Feb). Arrive early to secure a good vantage point and avoid wind.
Stay clear of dune vegetation and keep drones above populated areas. Respect beachgoers' privacy. Avoid flying near surf lifesaving patrol zones.
